The Super League world is in shock at the sudden death of prop forward Adam Watene.
WAKEFIELD Trinity prop forward Adam Watene has died of a suspected heart attack at the age of 31.


WAKEFIELD Trinity prop forward Adam Watene has died of a suspected heart attack at the age of 31.

A club statement read: "The Wakefield Trinity Wildcats are sad to announce the sudden passing of Adam Watene, 31. The circumstances surrounding Adam's death were sudden and unexpected.

"Everyone at the Wildcats' thoughts are with Adam's family, and we ask for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time. There will be no further comment from the club at this stage."

The Yorkshire Post is reporting that Watene collapsed in the gym during a weights training session.

The former Castleford front-rower joined the Wildcats in 2006 after a short stint with Bradford.

Tragically Watene's death comes 7-months after the passing of his father. He is survived by his wife and two children
